Sharing the Story With MyLethbridgeNow 💛
I recently had the chance to chat with MyLethbridgeNow about Hockey Is My Favorite Season, and it was really special to be able to share this story with my hometown!
I grew up in Lethbridge in a hockey loving family. Whether it was watching the Lethbridge Hurricanes or going to NHL games, the rink was always a part of our lives. I didn’t grow up playing hockey myself, and I personally didn’t know any other girls who did. But now, raising a little girl in a hockey world, I want her to grow up knowing there’s space for her in the game.
That’s what inspired this book.
What started as a birthday gift for my daughter Mila has turned into something so much more. I wanted her to see herself in a story like this and hopefully, other little girls will too.
We also talked about my Kickstarter campaign, which launched this week. Self-publishing a book like this comes with a lot of upfront costs (editing, illustration, printing), and Kickstarter gives people a way to pre-order the book and help bring it to life. I’ve been blown away by the support received so far.
The book will be available in August through Amazon, on my website, and in local bookstores, including here in Lethbridge!
